About
Federico Caballero

Federico Caballero of Calinog, Iloilo was awarded as the Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan in 2000 for his efforts to preserve the beliefs, traditions, and beliefs of Panay- Bukidnon by encouraging cultural researchers and advocates to write them down to be taught to the younger members of their community.

The interest in him when he was younger became a desire to follow the steps of his great grandmother. This interest began when he listens to his Anggoy Omil chanting different epics for them to sleep. Because of this, whenever they asked him to do things, Caballero gives a condition where they will teach him on how to chant an epic.

There are ten main epics in the Middle East that Caballero is trying to save. The folk epics served as a sleeping pill for their siblings as they grew up. Every night, their grandmother Anggoy Omil, sings the epics of their ancestors. Thus, he was the only one who continued to spread their literature.
